In its ninth year, JAVELIN’s annual Identity Protection Leader awards recognize the leading direct-to-consumer identity protection providers. This year is the first time JAVELIN has also named winning plans in three specific pricing tiers.
2016 JAVELIN Best Overall Identity Protection Leader
For the third year, EZShield has earned the Javelin Best Overall Identity Protection Leader award. EZShield offers robust identify protection solutions to combat identity crimes related to lost and stolen personally identifiable information, identity fraud, and identity theft.

EZShield, IdentityForce, ID Watchdog, LifeLock, and TransUnion are the 2016 JAVELIN Identity Protection Leaders in three specific categories.
- Prevention Category: EZShield, IdentityForce, and ID Watchdog lead in Prevention.
- Detection Category: EZShield, ID Watchdog, and LifeLock achieved top scores in Detection.
- Resolution Category: EZShield, ID Watchdog, and TransUnion earned the highest marks in Resolution, which has historically been the core focus of identity protection providers.
“Many of the 2016 Javelin Identity Protection Leaders are repeat winners in their categories,” said Pascual. “While criteria in each award category have changed over the years to address the shifting fraud landscape, these leaders have increased their year-to-year scores in their respective categories, reflecting their advances in fraud prevention, detection, and resolution.”
2016 JAVELIN Identity Protection Excellence
For the first time, JAVELIN recognized the top-rated identity protection plans in three pricing tiers.
- IdentityForce’s “Ultrasecure + Credit” claimed the top spot in the competitive Premium product tier ($20.00 or more per month).
- EZShield’s Gold plan and Value plan were rated as the highest scoring plans in the Midrange ($10.00 to $19.99 per month) and Standard ($0 to $9.99 per month) product tiers, respectively.
IdentityForce’s plan is noted for addressing fraud threats through existing and new account monitoring and black market scanning to detect the sale of personal information. Highlights of both EZShield’s Midrange and Standard plans are feature sets that exceed even higher priced plans and offer broad accessibility features to streamline fraud recovery.
2016 JAVELIN Identity Protection Leaders
These awards are based on scorecard surveys provided by executives of identity protection services providers, extensive website research, and mystery shopping with customer service representatives. JAVELIN surveyed 14 identity protection services providers with a total of 22 plans, selling directly to consumers. Based on those responses and research, JAVELIN determined scores for each provider using criteria in the best in class, prevention, detection, and resolution categories and evaluated each provider’s highest-scoring plan. Providers and plans with top scores are named 2016 JAVELIN Identity Protection Leaders.
